Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will develop, optimize, and oversee manufacturing processes, with a focus on CNC machining and 3D printing. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, precision-engineered components for aerospace applications.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development and Optimization:
Develop and refine manufacturing processes for aerospace components, including CNC machining and additive manufacturing.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
Tooling and Equipment Design:
Design and oversee the fabrication of custom fixtures, jigs, and tooling for machining and 3D printing processes.
Collaborate with suppliers to select and procure CNC machines, 3D printers, and other advanced manufacturing equipment.
CNC and Additive Manufacturing Operations:
Program and operate CNC machines, ensuring precision and adherence to design specifications.
Set up and operate 3D printing machines, selecting appropriate materials and parameters for optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CNC machining or 3D printing processes.
Production Support:
Provide technical support during production, addressing challenges and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Optimize machine utilization, maintenance schedules, and production workflows.
Quality Assurance:
Work with quality teams to establish inspection protocols for machined and printed components.
Perform root cause analyses for defects or deviations and implement corrective actions.
Collaboration and Integration:
Partner with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of components and systems.
Collaborate with testing and assembly teams to support seamless integration into final products.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of manufacturing processes, CNC programs, and 3D printing parameters.
Generate reports on production metrics, machine performance, and process improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machines, including experience with G-code and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLS, or SLA, and familiarity with slicing software (e.g., Cura, PreForm).
Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and post-processing techniques.
Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for designing tooling and fixtures.
Familiarity with quality systems, GD&T, and inspection tools such as CMMs.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience in aerospace or other high-precision industries.
Knowledge of advanced materials used in CNC machining and 3D printing, such as composites and high-strength alloys.
Familiarity with automation and robotics in manufacturing.
Understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
