Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Procurement Engineer to join our propulsion team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring materials, components, and systems necessary for the design, testing, and manufacturing of propulsion systems. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality parts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and Supplier Management:

    • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for propulsion system components and materials.

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.

  • Technical and Quality Evaluation:

    • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and specifications.

    • Assess supplier capabilities and conduct audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and performance metrics.

  • Procurement and Negotiation:

    • Manage the procurement process for propulsion-related components, including issuing RFQs, analysing bids, and negotiating contracts.

    • Optimize procurement strategies to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or timelines.

  • Inventory and Logistics Coordination:

    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure timely availability of components.

    • Address logistical challenges, such as lead times and transportation requirements, to minimize delays.

  • Compliance and Documentation:

    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations, including export controls.

    • Maintain accurate documentation for procurement transactions, supplier evaluations, and certifications.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement in procurement workflows.

    • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to support innovative sourcing strategies.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of propulsion system components, materials, and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and procurement practices.

  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Proficiency in procurement tools and software (e.g., ERP systems, SAP).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for supplier management and cross-team collaboration.


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in aerospace or propulsion system procurement.

  • Knowledge of advanced materials, such as high-temperature alloys, composites, or ceramics.

  • Familiarity with export compliance and ITAR regulations.

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and cost-reduction strategies.
