OUR JOURNEY

Inspecity - pronounced ɪn speɪs ˈsɪti - came to life in mid-2022 with a simple dream of building a city up there in space, so that we don't fight over resources here on dear earth. Inspirations were drawn from O'Neill cylinders. With the Indian space ecosystem being cash-strapped in the near future, we are devoted to developing enabling technologies for building cities. Autonomous robotic platforms are one such key piece of technology. Such platforms allow us to service satellites in all orbits, making us the greatest "Space Mechanics" out there. From here we envision building factories supporting a true in-space economy, and then, on to that city!

I am an active dreamer. I love achieving the impossible.

All my thoughts are focused on how to provide people around me with an enriching life. Inspecity was born out of this intense desire to create unlimited opportunities for the whole of humanity, not the privileged few. With a bachelors degree from IIT Kharagpur and a PhD from Penn State, I have been at IIT Bombay for more than a decade. Executing a multitude of projects for the Indian industry has given me a holistic view of executing sophisticated projects. In my free time, I read manga, play football, and aquascape (yes, its a thing!).

Tausif Shaikh

I am a genius inventor.

A born "engineer", I have tinkered with machines all my life, starting from my father's garage, all the way through college, and now as the co-founder of Inspecity. I love dreaming of new ways to solve challenging problems. With a masters and a doctoral degree from IIT Bombay building rocket engines from scratch, I have a decade long exposure to propulsion systems. When I am not in the lab, I am singing Qawwali in a soulful voice or helping my community in as many ways as possible.
