Mechanical Technician

InspeCity is looking for a Mechanical Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, and maintenance of satellite systems and associated engineering hardware.



Position Summary



  • This is a hands-on role working closely with Design Engineers and other engineering teams. 


  • The technician will support mechanical assembly, development of small test setups and fixtures, hardware testing, procurement, vendor coordination, and general laboratory operations.


Responsibilities



  • Perform structural analysis of satellites, spacecraft subsystems, and mechanical components. 

  • Review CAD models and mechanical designs, identify structural concerns, and provide recommendations to the design team. 

  • Develop and evaluate finite element models for components, assemblies, and spacecraft systems. 

  • Perform relevant static, modal, vibration, buckling, and other structural analyses based on project requirements. 

  • Use analytical calculations and engineering judgement to verify analysis results and support design decisions. 

  • Support structural and vibration testing, including test planning, predictions, result assessment, and test–analysis correlation. 

  • Prepare analysis reports and technical documentation, and communicate findings and recommendations during engineering reviews.

  • Support engineers in the assembly, integration, testing, modification, and maintenance of satellite hardware. 

  • Build and maintain small mechanical test setups, fixtures, mounting arrangements, and laboratory hardware. 

  • Assist engineers during hardware testing, troubleshooting, rework, and modifications. 

  • Support procurement of components, tools, fabricated parts, and consumables required for engineering activities. 

  • Coordinate and follow up with machining/fabrication vendors and suppliers for quotations, manufacturing, rework, and deliveries. 

  • Maintain tools, fixtures, test equipment, and work areas in an organized and serviceable condition. 

  • Support cleanroom readiness, including cleaning/maintenance coordination, maintaining logs, monitoring consumables, and reporting equipment or facility issues. 

  • Follow applicable SOPs, safety procedures, assembly instructions, and cleanroom practices. 


    The Design Engineer is expected to progressively take ownership of hardware through the engineering lifecycle:



Must-Have Skills:

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline

  • Good hands-on mechanical skills and confidence working with tools and hardware. 

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, fabrication, maintenance, testing, or similar hands-on work. 

  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and assembly drawings and work instructions. 

  • Familiarity with fasteners, fittings, mechanical components, tools, and basic measuring instruments. 

  • Ability to build and troubleshoot small mechanical and test setups under engineering guidance. 

  • Comfortable coordinating with vendors and suppliers and following up on procurement and fabrication activities. 

  • Basic computer skills for maintaining records, logs, and procurement follow-ups. 

  • Organized, dependable, safety-conscious, and attentive to detail. 

Good-to-Have Skills:

Experience in aerospace, automotive, precision engineering, R&D, manufacturing, testing, or similar technical environments. 

  • Experience with prototype/product assembly, testing, machining, or fabrication vendors. 

  • Previous experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment. 

  • Kannada-speaking ability is desirable for coordination with local vendors and service providers. 

  • Comfortable with basic English communication and understanding engineering instructions/documentation. Professional-level English proficiency is not required.
