Thane, India - 2025: InspeCity, a trailblazing Indian space technology company advancing the frontiers of satellite life-extension, has announced a $5.6 million seed funding round to propel its vision of sustainable space operations. The round was led by Ashish Kacholia, one of India’s most prolific technology investors, with participation from Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF Kavachh and Anicut Capital, underscoring broad investor conviction in InspeCity’s technological edge and global potential.
This milestone investment accelerates InspeCity’s transition from breakthrough R&D to scaled commercialization, solidifying its position as India’s first fully vertically integrated platform for life-extension, with propulsion, robotics, and Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) technologies developed under the same roof.
InspeCity is an iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) program awardee. The team at the helm of executing the space technology projects at iDEX has played a pivotal role in InspeCity’s journey, offering crucial early-stage validation and support. The backing from iDEX not only catalysed key technological milestones for InspeCity’s satellite life-extension platforms but also showcased the government’s commitment to nurturing deeptech startups working at the intersection of national security and frontier innovation.
“Our mission is to redefine the economics and sustainability of satellite operations,” said Prof. Arindrajit Chowdhury, CEO of InspeCity. “By extending the lifespan of on-orbit assets and reducing orbital debris, we unlock a cleaner, more sustainable, and cost-efficient future for space. This capital infusion validates our unique approach and fast-tracks our journey to market leadership in satellite life-extension. We’re thrilled to partner with investors like Ashish Kacholia and Vishesh Rajaram who share our vision for an economically vibrant space ecosystem.”
InspeCity’s proprietary stack, encompassing advanced propulsion systems, robotic arms, and precision sensing suites, has already achieved key technical milestones and contract wins under India’s prestigious iDEX defence innovation challenges. Strategic collaborations with leading space-tech ecosystems in Taiwan and Japan further amplify its international reach and relevance.
Commenting on the investment, Vishesh Rajaram, Managing Partner at Speciale Invest, remarked, “InspeCity represents the next wave of Indian deeptech: visionary, globally relevant, and deeply technical. Their vertically integrated architecture in ISAM (In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing) uniquely positions them to lead the charge in orbital sustainability. We’re proud to support this exceptional team as they reshape the future of space infrastructure.”
Ashish Kacholia, lead investor in this seed round, added, "We, at Lucky Investment, are proud to lead this seed round in InspeCity, a company that stands at the forefront of India’s deeptech revolution. Their bold vision for satellite life-extension, backed by a fully integrated stack of propulsion, robotics, and sensing technologies, positions them to become a global leader in the domain of in-orbit servicing. The team’s achievements, ranging from winning iDEX challenges to forging meaningful collaborations across Asia, speak volumes about the team’s capability and ambition. We’re excited to support them as they move from lab to orbit and scale India’s presence in the future of sustainable space infrastructure.”
The funding will enable InspeCity to space-qualify its technologies within the next 12 months, grow its high-performance engineering team, and accelerate deployment of its satellite life-extension platforms in global markets. With an emphasis on Make-in-India manufacturing and Indo-Pacific collaborations, the company seeks to fuse India’s innovation-driven frugality with East Asia’s deep hardware capabilities.
As space becomes an increasingly critical domain for both commercial and strategic interests, InspeCity is not only building hardware, it is shaping the policy, ecosystem, and global narrative around sustainable space operations.
